U.S. Pulls B-1 Bombers Out of RAF Fairford

Bombers return to U.S. bases
The United States Air Force has withdrawn all of its B-1 Lancer strategic bombers from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England. The Pentagon said the aircraft have returned to bases in the United States.
The base had been used as a forward location during the war with Iran. The pullout follows arrests at RAF Fairford earlier this year and comes as Washington and London recalibrate the U.S. footprint in Britain.
What the move signals
A withdrawal of bombers is not the same as an end to operations. It does change how quickly those aircraft can be launched toward the Gulf, and it puts the next step back on bases at home.
Allies will read the move alongside cabinet-level talks at Camp David on Iran and the Saudi-Houthi conflict in Yemen. Those talks, chaired by Vice President JD Vance, were not announced in advance.
