From the podium to prime time

Karoline Leavitt, the former White House press secretary, is joining Fox News as an on-air contributor, CNN and The New York Times reported Monday.

The move puts one of the administration's most visible spokespeople on the network that already carries much of its message. It is a familiar path from the briefing room to a paid television seat.

What viewers should expect

Contributor deals are not anchor jobs. Leavitt can appear across shows without running one. The value for the network is access and a voice already known to its audience.

The Times described her as Trump's most aggressive defender at the podium. That is the role Fox is buying.
