A ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon officially began at midnight, offering a brief reprieve after weeks of intense military conflict. President Trump, speaking from the White House before a trip to Las Vegas, expressed high optimism that this truce is the first major step toward a broader peace deal with Iran. He suggested that leaders from both Israel and Lebanon could visit Washington within the next few days for a historic meeting.
However, the peace is already being tested. Early Friday morning, the Lebanese Army reported "acts of aggression" by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, though the ceasefire appears to be largely holding for now. This diplomatic push comes as the United States looks to end the war with Iran, with Tehran reportedly insisting that any final agreement must include a lasting resolution for Lebanon.
