Rebel Wilson’s “first-ever” plus-sized comment backlashes

Last Wednesday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” the “Pitch Perfect” star Rebel Wilson made a comment which left her right open for social media drama. Wilson claimed she was the “first-ever plus size girl to be the star of a romantic comedy,” speaking about her upcoming movie “Isn’t It Romantic.

Not soon after her comment, fans used social media to point out on that other “plus-sized” actresses had taken lead roles in the same genre, including Mo’Nique, Ricky Lake, and Queen Latifah, Melissa McCarthy, and many others. Her reaction? She tweeted “I fully take all the comments onboard though, so thank you."

Isn’t It Romantic will hit theaters on February 14, 2019.
