Two people attacked with machete on Appalachian Trail

James L. Jordan, 30, of West Yarmouth, was arrested early Saturday on one count of murder and one count of assault after viciously attacked two people with a machete while they were hiking on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia.

The Massachusetts man will appear in court and is facing a federal murder charge.

One man died from the attack and one woman walked some six miles after the attack before receiving help.
