Knitasha Washington, DHA, MHA, FACHE brings more than 25 years of experience as a multi-dimensional health care leader focused on quality improvement, safety, and health equity. Her career has spanned roles in healthcare administration, managed care, quality management, disparities research, and policy. The trajectory of her work has mostly served as a change agent driving organizational performance improvement, quality, and safety improvement, as well as advising on health policy matters, and leadership contributing to large-scale national public health campaigns. Dr. Washington has international health professional training and experience with extensive knowledge of strategies to advance innovation and improve outcomes through community engagement, patient engagement, and stakeholder alignment. She has a proven track record working with safety net, public, and teaching healthcare systems. As a health equity practitioner and social science researcher her skill and expertise bridge population health methodologies with the applied science of health services delivery to improve quality, safety, and equity outcomes.
In 2011, Dr. Washington began her entrepreneurial endeavors to advance forward her vision of driving greater social impact and in 2014 incorporated ATW Health Solutions. ATW Health Solutions based in Chicago, Illinois is named to honor her late father Anthony T. Washington Sr., whose life was lost to a preventable medical error. His life and legacy prompted Dr. Washington's sense of urgency to work toward radical change to improve quality and safety for all. Shaped by her passion and belief in social justice, Knitasha has earned recognition nationally for work in health equity and patient safety. Resulting from her leadership and focus on engagement science and equity, ATW Health Solutions is an award-winning woman-owned Federal contracting population health improvement and research advisory firm that has worked with agencies of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) including but not limited to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and Office of Minority Health (OMH). Knitasha’s contribution to service is national, state, and local, including a list of notable awards, board appointments, and committee work including National Quality Forum (NQF), American Association of Family Physicians (AAFP), and Grand Prairie Behavioral Services.
